A Highly Mobile Drilling Rig Capable of Working Efficiently in Extreme Arctic Conditions

DDI Rig 15 consists of two integrated, self- propelled modules for maximum operational and moving efficiency. The substructure module is 132 feet long by 50 feet wide, and has a cantilevered drillfloor capable of ten foot well spacing. The substructure ground level contains the power generators, SCR bays, steam boilers, support equipment, moving hydraulics, main fuel tank and wheel assemblies. The second level of the substructure module contains the pipe shed and pipe skate assembly. The third level comprises the rig floor, drilling equipment, doghouse and mast. The second module is the mud processing facility, which measures 96 feet long by 50 feet wide. The mudpit module ground level contains the triplex mud pumps, centrifugal pumps, mud tanks, air compressors, moving generator, and wheel assemblies. The second level of this module consists of the remainder of the pipe shed, solids control equipment, sack room, and mud lab.

The rig is self-moving, utilizing a sophisticated Columbia hydraulic wheel system capable of 2.5 mph over level roadways. On well-to-well moves the mast remains standing, which decreases moving time. For longer moves the mast can be lowered on a substructure support cradle. The mast hoisting capability is 1,000,000 lbs. with a twelve-line hook-up, and the substructure is capable of a simultaneous combined load of 650,000 lbs. for pipe set back and 750,000 lbs. rotary table load.
